Ben’s Qualifications

This is my professional story…

  • From my youth I have been interested in human psychology and spirituality. Through my twenties I was on a psycho-spiritual healing journey where I explored my connection to self and meaning-making. I did my own intensive therapy and learned how psychological healing could be a doorway to building confidence, strength, motivation, and the ability to embrace life.

  • In 1998 I graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. I earned the University of Victoria Jubilee Medal for having the highest GPA (Grade Point Average) of my graduating class in the Social Sciences.

  • In 2002 I earned my Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology from Norwich University, graduating with distinction. The focus of my degree was on psycho-spiritual theories of human development, with an emphasis on Jungian psychology, dream interpretation, and mindfulness meditation. The focus of my research was on empathic resonance.

  • I went on to intern with my psychology professor, Dr. Mary-Louise Reilley, in her private practice in Victoria, BC, where I trained in hypnotic therapeutic interventions. In 2002 I became a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

  • In 2003 I opened my private practice in Courtenay, BC. Over the next several years I trained in additional therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Self-Psychology, Family Violence, and Trauma Therapy.

  • In 2017 I began to shift the focus of my practice towards sex therapy. I completed the University of Guelph Intensive Sex Therapy training program. Since that time I have attended several seminars on human sexuality and have attended workshops on Tantra sexuality practices.

  • In 2021 I earned a Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health from the University of Alberta.

  • I continue to work with clients who have an interest in addressing a number of issues, but I especially welcome individuals and couples who are interested in exploring their sexuality.
